Dr. James Burkett
Although not raised in a Christian family, Jim surrendered his life to Christ while watching a Billy Graham crusade on television. Answering “The Call” to ministry as a high school student, he began to speak to Youth for Christ clubs in area junior and senior high schools. While attending Oklahoma Baptist University, he was involved in revival crusades in Oklahoma and the Midwest. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Oklahoma Baptist University (B.A. 1969) and graduate studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1973) and Luther Rice Seminary (D.Min. 1979).
With 34 years of pastoral ministry in university communities, Jim Burkett presents the intellectual dimensions for Biblical Christianity in a fast-paced manner using media, student involvement, and captivating visuals to maximize this learning and motivating experience. He has presented APOLOGETICS-on-FIRE Conferences throughout the nation as well as Africa, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Great Britain. He is the founder and director of the Oklahoma School of Apologetics & Practical Theology as well as an Adjunct Scholar for the Josh McDowell Institute of Christian Apologetics and Adjunct Professor with Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
